I recorded some audio on a handheld recorder which I have been imported into FCP. I found out they were mono. I would like to use Audacity to make them stereo. Is this possible? If so how do I do it?

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: AMR
How did you get the show into Final Cut? Play the recorder into the audio connector on your Mac?
Anyway, if the show is already 48000, 16-bit, Mono, you can install Audacity 1.3 from here....
http://audacityteam.org/download/
...and use that. DO NOT use Audacity 1.2.
Load the file. Command-D Duplicate track. Dropdown menu from the left > Make Stereo Track.
File > Export > WAV Microsoft 16-bit PCM.
