You probably want audacity 1.3.12. You can get it from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_mac

Read the installation instructions on that page.

And you can find the manual here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... =Main_Page

help!!!
i installed audacity 1.2.5 on my new macbook pro. I download a file from itunes, (at least it appears it is loaded, it visually shows like it is) but it will not play. I hit the play button, and all I get is a quick popping sound. From another post, it seems I need a different version. If so, how do I remove this version? I can't seem to find anywhere in the mac manuals about installing or removing outside software.
thanks
Ron

Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported,
patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can
be unstable on newer computers.

Download and install the latest Audacity 1.3 from here...

http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_mac

You can install both audacity 1.2 and Audacity 1.3 on
the same computer, but only use one at a time.

Audacity 1.2 will not open projects made on Audacity 1.3.

If you use MP3 or some of the more modern audio
compression formats, get Lame and FFMpeg software
from the same web site. Do not use older software
or software from other web sites, even though they
may have the same names.

Installation instruction are on the download page. Read it thouroughly.
