Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

ADS audio capture device

Post by Howard Brazee » Sun Jun 08, 2008 8:03 pm

When I was using Windows, I would play my cassettes via an ADS device that converted the audio to USB which I captured using Audacity.

Now I'm using OS X, and I don't seem to be able to get my computer to hear via its USB port. Any ideas what I can try here?

Sure. Close Audacity.

Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Is your sound device listed there? Select it and then play something. The Apple simple sound meter should start flashing (it doesn't have to flash much). Adjust the volume as needed.

Now launch Audacity and set the input to default. Turn up the input volume control. Click once inside the red record meters and play music. It should register. You're flying.

If this process fails at step one, Apple has no idea what your sound device is or how to use it.
