Audacity 1.3.9 has worked nicely until lately. Now it works fine when first opened. Records waveform when I click the "record" button. However, after digitizing the first record, when I delete the previous waveform and click the "Record" button I get the message "Error when opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate". I have checked these settings for the input device, an Onkyo Digital Audio Processor model # MSE-U33HB, and they appear correct and the sample rate 44100 should be compatible with the device.
I can get around the problem by restarting Audacity but it returns after collecting the first waveform.

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: input device settings/sample rate
Audacity 1.3.9 had a number of bugs.
I would recommend you upgrade to the current 1.3.12
http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_mac
If that doesn't solve the problem, let us know.

And if it does solve the problem, let us know too... So that we know that was the solution to your problem and for others to come to learn from it too.Irish wrote:If that doesn't solve the problem, let us know.
Include as much details as you can in your post (Audacity version, Operating System, Equipment used, etc).
Please post your question in the appropriate forum (regarding audacity version and operating system).

Re: input device settings/sample rate
I have an EMU 0404 that I use to record through. Both this program and my CUBASE program are complaining that that is an error in opening the sound device, although they have both worked before. I am not sure how to go about changing the sample rate or input device settings. Thanks, Lorraine

First, you really should start a new thread, as your problem may be completely different from the person who started this thread.earlemusic wrote:I have an EMU 0404 that I use to record through. Second, you've posted in the Mac forum for Audacity 1.2.x. So are you using a Mac, and version 1.2.x of Audacity? If so, which Mac exactly, and which version of OS X? And also, which version of the EMU 0404 do you have - the PCI version or the USB version?
