Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

CAN'T EXPORT STEREO

Post by asdfasdf » Wed Nov 03, 2010 6:19 am

Hello,

I have lots of mono tracks in audacity. They are all panned to various locations.

When I EXPORT the file, I only get mono playback... all of my panning effects are nowhere to be heard!

Is there a way to fix this problem? I still have the original Audacity Project file.

PLEASE HELP!

I'm not seeing this in Audacity 1.2.6 or 1.3.12 on my Mac.

You've posted in 1.2.x forum. I'd recommend upgrading to 1.3.12, especially if you are running OS X 10.6.

Just to be clear, are you exported files actually in "real" mono, or are they in two-track mono -- stereo with the same left and right? Open them in QuickTime Player and Command-I to get the Info panel.

Audacity is supposed to revert to stereo when you activate the panning sliders. Did you start with Stereo preferences? Audacity > Preferences > Quality > 44100, 16-bit and Devices > Recording > Stereo.

If it's still stuck like that, You may need to reset your preferences. That changes depending on your version.
