Trimming multi-tracks, keeping in sync

I have an eight-track recording, and need to cut out "dead air." I can't find a way to select all 8 tracks and then cut a block of useless sounds out of the mix. I can do each track separately, but not all of them vertically.

Or should I just do this after the mixdown, when I have only two tracks?

Tnx.

You could do that, or you might take a good look at Audacity 1.3. Both Audacities can be installed, but not used at the same time. This is typical of the odd problems that 1.2 had that may have been addressed in 1.3.

I'm not a Mac user, but on Windows or Linux, you click and drag to make your selection which may be across multiple tracks, then delete.
If you have trouble click and dragging, select the area to be deleted on one track, then "Shift + Click" on the track info box (left hand end of the track) to select / deselect tracks.
