No sound when exported as mp3 or aiff

I recently recorded a mix tape. I listened back to it and exported as an aiff and a mp3. But when I play it back on a media played there is no sound other than a little white noise. I have found the recording in 1meg parts in my documents folder as .au files. How do i get a copy of my mix tape? Please help me get this sorted, as I need to get it to a number of promoters pronto!!!!!

By the way...... Where I saved as the aiff file.... It's taking up 250 Mb of disc space. So it must be there? No?

I think the first thing I'd do is stop using Audacity 1.2. It's not supported on modern Macs. If you Saved your work as a Project, it should open up in Audacity 1.3.12 which you can get from here...

Then Export as WAV or AIFF or anything else.

You can install both versions of Audacity, but only use one at a time.

Are you using AIFF files for a specific reason? Audacity defaults to Microsoft WAV format because it's perfectly supported on all three computer types.

It's actually an old mac, power pc. and it only has a 1 gig processor. I though I was using the right version..... Do you think it will work with the newer version of the software?

Tried what you suggested with the more recent version. No joy unfortunately. Any more ideas?
