Hello,
I am trying to export a project as an AIFF file for use in Soundslides. My first problem is that much of the time the "Export as AIFF" is not in the list of choices under "File". Sometimes however ( I do not know why) it does appear and I export it and upon opening the aiff, find that the first 4 seconds are fine, and then there is flat line silence until the last 4 seconds. This has happened several times. Anyone know what IO am doing wrong?!
Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!

Re: AIFF export problems
Export A AIFF... is gray or it's not there at all? You know you set that in Audacity > File Formats, right? Is your particular version of AIFF still selected?
<<<This has happened several times.>>>
But an overwhelming majority of the time, everything is perfect?
I"ll put a lot of money on your having a damaged sound clip in the mix. Do you occasionally include internet songs in your dialog? Do you convert them to AIFF or WAV first? Do you pull them right out of iTunes?
<<<the first 4 seconds are fine, and then there is flat line silence until the last 4 seconds.>>>
That's a different problems. Let's solve this one first.

Re: AIFF export problems
I had no idea about the preferences! That solves that issue.
The second issue, about the 4 seconds on, flat-line silence and then last 4 seconds good, is happening with recorded sound that is fine as the .aup, but when exported is coming out bad.

<<<recorded sound>>>
Live recorded sound? Sound that you got by singing into a microphone?
If the AIFF export fails, can you then go back to the Audacity Project later and hear everything?
A lot is hanging on the answer to those two.
