Hi guys..
I just saved a 5 mb mp3 file from audacity which has no music in it.
If I open it again with audacity, it is a flat line....
Title, artist and other info are there.
I'm using libmp3lame.dylib , 723,796 bytes, march 26, 2007
Any suggestions?
cheers,
Sander

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: Lame mp3 saves empty files? MAC os leopard...
We haven't really nailed down what causes this, but there is one possibility. First, before you do anything else, Export As WAV... and make a high quality safety copy of your project. Audacity Projects are brittle and if you start having export problems, you could flush your show down the toilet.
After you make the protection copy, Edit > Select > All and then try the MP3 export again.
<<<libmp3lame.dylib>>>
If you had the wrong lame library file, Audacity would not have recognized it.
This is Leopard's doing.

Re: Lame mp3 saves empty files? MAC os leopard...
Thanks for the quick response.
I have since found out that I'm facing the same issue as in another post... (issue with Leopard...)
Somehow, Leopard is passing the keystrokes from the filename in the "export file" dialog
also on to the main application. I must have used "delete" to correct a spelling mistake, and the
audio got wiped.
It affects all "save file" dialogs, as far as I can tell.
in other words... I'll have to be very, very careful with the characters in the filename,
and make no typing mistakes.
As bugs go, this is a duesie...
Perhaps a quick fix would be to suspend keyboard input before the "save" routine is called,
and flush the kb buffer after?
Cheers,
Sander

...or they could bring Audacity 1.4 out and eliminate all these problems.
