Extract beats/shakers from songs

Hello,
I a m a newbie to Audacity.
Is it possible in Audacity to extract certain beats/shakers/hi-hat loops from original songs ?

I very much doubt that it will be possible without causing considerable detriment to the sound quality of the remaining audio.

There is a VST plug-in (I think it is available for Windows only) called ExtraBoy that claims to be able to do this sort of thing http://www.elevayta.net/product13.htm
ExtraBoy is a commercial product, but if you have a Windows machine available to use there is a 14 day demo available that you could try. If you are able to try it, I'd be very interested to hear how you get on.
