I am trying to take a note at the end of a selection of music and make it longer. I've tried to copy and paste it so it repeats but due to the many notes, I get a beated sound. I've also tried slowing it down and that doesn't seem to work either. Any ideas? plugins?

If you have a symphony where the last note is one lone violin that slowly fades into the sunset, then you have hope. If the last note of your performance is one instrument with a bunch of other people playing in the background, then practically speaking, you're dead.

You're in the same boat as the people who want to take one voice out of a complex performance and put somebody else's voice in there.

It is often possible to do this, but requires a lot of messing about.

Make several duplicate copies of a section of the last note (try and find a bit that is fairly even).
Move the duplicate copies (on separate tracks) so that the overlap and extend the note.
Then use the envelope tool so that they cross fade and gradually diminish in volume.
When you have this as smooth as possible, use "Quick Mix" to combine the tracks
Finally add a couple of seconds of silence to the end of the track, check that you have a smooth(ish) fade out of the note, and apply a bit of reverb to the last note - this will help to mask any imperfections.

Note: always keep an unedited copy of the original track so that you don't mess up the original recording.
