OK because of USB noise issue I am going to record all of my LPs again using the RCA or analogue or whatever its called. Seems a clean way.
Tell me though.. whats the best way to split tracks into something that iTunes will recognise as tracks. When you save a wave file from Audacity, it condenses it all on a single track.. even if the seperate tracks were recorded in the first place.
Pretty basic stuff I know but I a now on a huge backward step
HELP !!!

All you need to do is to place a label at each track break - use the Ctrl-B shortcut - and don't forget to place a label right at the beginning for the first track.
Then use Audacity's Export Multiple command (available from the File drop-down) to export a multiple set of WAVs, MP3s or whatever.
The Audacity Wiki, Documentation and Turorials have much useful information on how to do this - a recommended read -

There is a "Silence Finder" tool in Audacity that may halp you - but it won't always work exactly. Sometimes it will find false-track breaks and sometimes not find proper track breaks. I tend to make a cue-sheet as I am recording noting the track start times to help with track identification.

Hey hey thanks for that. A great help. I will certaionly read through the documentation.
One thing though - I label and export the multiple, as you suggest. Audacity confirms for instance that 5 tracks have been exported, but there are only 4 tracks in the specified location. That is, track 1 is missing, even though a label is put at the start of the first track. Strange but true. Any ideas as to this anomaly?

Did you use any special characteres like / in the label - special characters are not allowed in labels - and what's more you don't get a sensible error message from Audacity telling you so, it just drops the track and normally all subsequent tracks.
