Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

hello need help! how can I do these exercises? please spiegatemelo with examples, images, in a clear and simple, I do not understand how to do .. I read the guides and tutorials but I did not understand

1) Making a harmonic complex sound (220 Hz fundamental) is simply the first 3 odd partial amplitudes with decreasing.

2) Make a chromatic scale of 5 notes from LA = 220 Hz (total duration 9 sec.)

3) Make two sinusoids in the first octave is more serious and stronger in the second.

tnx

Ah, that explains it :D

Happy to help, but there are many ways to approach this problem.
I don't know what your objective is, so it's difficult to know which way is best for you.

You want to write code to do this?
You want to do this one step at a time by hand using Audacity?

You want 220Hz + 660Hz + 1100Hz ?
You can make 3 tracks, and use the "Generate > Tone" to create the three tones.
Then use "Quick Mix" to add these tones together.

Is this the kind of answer?

Hi Irish, perhaps I should leave this to you - It'd be fairly simple to do this using Nyquist, but I'm not sure if that's what lollosa is after, or whether he wants a step-by-step method just using the standard Audacity functions. Steve.

I'll see what I can do. At least I should be able to translate questions (and maybe answers?- my Italian is pretty basic)

1) Making a harmonic complex sound (220 Hz fundamental) is simply the first 3 odd partial amplitudes with decreasing.
2) Make a chromatic scale of 5 notes from LA = 220 Hz (total duration 9 sec.)
3) Make two sinusoids in the first octave is more serious and stronger in the second.

grazie per la pazienza

Upgrade to Audacity 1.3 - it is much easier to do these things on Audacity 1.3. On Audacity 1.2 it is difficult.

Task 1 Using Audacity 1.3.11:

Open Audacity

Generate menu > Tone
Frequency= 220 Hz
Amplitude = 0.6
Click "OK" button

Tracks menu > Add New > Audio Track
Generate menu > Tone
Frequency= 660 Hz
Amplitude = 0.4
Click "OK" button

Tracks menu > Add New > Audio Track
Generate menu > Tone
Frequency= 1100 Hz
Amplitude = 0.2
Click "OK" button

Ctrl+A (select All)
Tracks menu > Mix and Render

Do you understand? Is this what you want?

@Steve; Yes, he wants step by step instructions to perform the three tasks.

The automated translation is not great; it should read;

1) Make a harmonic complex sound (220 Hz fundamental) consisting only of the first 3 odd partials with decreasing amplitudes .
2) Make a chromatic scale of 5 notes from A = 220 Hz (total duration 9 sec.)
3) Make two sinusoids of which the first is an octave lower and louder than the second. (this isn't completely clear to me; it could be interpreted that the first should be "an octave louder" ?twice the amplitude?)

I have to leave this here. I'll come back later.
