i recently was given an ion usb turntable. i am running mac os 10.1.4 and installed the audacity software. in the preferences menu, there is no option to choose usb audio codec as per the instructions. there is only the possibility to choose built in audio. i have tried recording using this option, and it records everything - ambient noise, etc. like recording a record from a handheld mic...

can anyone help me with this? thanks very much in advance.

That's because it is recording from a hand-held mic--the one inside your PowerBook.

DId you get this turntable because someone thought about you over Christmas, or someone else got it over Christmas and couldn't get it to work?

If it didn't immediately show up in the Mac preferences, try restarting the Mac with the turntable connected and running (not playing). If it still doesn't want to work, change USB connections and restart again.

O.K., I know I am resurrecting an old post, but it found it during a search. I have the same problem as the original poster and tried restarting, etc as instructed, but that did not work. I downloaded the newest version of Audacity (1.3.3) but same results. Any other ideas? Running 10.5.2. Thanks in advance for any help!
