Listen to recording

Just downloaded Audacity. Am using it on a Mac to record from Minidisc. Recording is fine but I would like to listen to what I'm recording at the time I'm recording it. I'm sure this must be very simple but I've looked around and can't find out how.
Help appreciated.
Bob.

Bob,
just go to Edit/Preferences and click the Audio I/O tab - and check the Software Playthrough (Play new track while recording it)
Also on this dialogue box, make sure your Playback device is selected correctly (sometimes this gets reset - particularly when using USB devices like turntables).

Thank you,
I knew it must be staring me in the face . . . and it was.

I'm just starting with Audacity and, although I've tried clicking both Hardware Playthrough and Software Playthrough, I can't hear anything while I'm recording. The only playback option I have is Built-in audio. I'm recording directly from a cassette deck. When I playback what I've recorded on Audacity I can hear it, but nothing while I'm recording. Any ideas? I have Mac Os X 10.4.11. Thanks, Margaret

Never mind. I just figured it out and now I can hear the recording. This is fabulous. M
