Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: recording internet radio on MacMini
Koz,
The guy with the Mac Mini was able to get Audacity to record streaming audio using Soundflower. See his post just under my first (long) one above.

And this guy (it's me) is VERY happy with his Mac Mini!!!!!!!
Re: recording internet radio on MacMini
I got recording to work on my macbook pro with soundsource and soundflower but I can't actually hear what's being played/recorded when my output is set to soundflower 2ch. It does record because I can see the spectogram moving in audacity, but I can't hear it, is this a common thing? Is there a way to fix it?

Yes, and yes.
Mess with Hardware and Software Playthrough in Audacity Preferences > Audio I/O.
If you change anything in that panel, you may need to restart Audacity.

Re: recording internet radio on MacMini
Thank you for your reply, I don't think it's an audacity issue though. Because even when I don't have audacity open and I change to soundflower (2ch) nothing plays through
The only way I can hear what's playing is if my ouput is on internal speakers/headphones. Once I switch to one of the soundflower options for the output all of my sound is not hearable to me (but my system does capture it because like I said it does record with audacity)

That may be the difference between SoundFlower and WireTap. I'm guessing now. I've never met SoundFlower, but it's far safer to redirect a bitstream than to try and duplicate for input and output which is what WireTap does.
Here's a bit from their web site:
<<<When using Soundflower to send audio to and from applications, you may find that you are not able to send audio through another device to monitor audio output. In such situations you can use Soundflowerbed, an application that resides in the Finder's Menubar allowing you to tap into Soundflower channels and route them to an audio device.>>>

I don't understand the comment about it doesn't work on Macs. I have used Audacity on a variety of Mac platforms for years. Though I have not found the solution to your problem, I am sure it is a simple oversight. I am having the same trouble with a G5 tower on 10.4 but it works fine on the G4 and several company laptops of different kinds including the INtel version.

So am I. What is it?
I can think of a large number of reasons that would not work. There are three different software packages struggling for mastery of the sound services. OS-X, SoundFlower, and Audacity, and they all have different agendas. I wouldn't be shocked to learn that the order in which you opened them counted.

Hi,
I think it's preferable to capture the mp3-bitstream of the radio station, rather than the uncompressed audio.
You can use VLC and its streaming/exporting wizard for this. When you leave 'transcode video' and 'transcode audio' unchecked you can save the raw stream. Name the raw file something.mp3 and it's a regular mp3.
