WAV files will stay the same quality unless you go to some serious trouble to break them. Always do production and editing in WAV until you're ready to deliver. I deliver in WAV, too, but most people post their podcasts in MP3 as that is the last step in the process. No further editing is expected.

Audacity 1.3 has Click Removal as part of its standard toolset. It may be available in 1.2, I don't remember. It's designed to remove pops and clicks from a phonograph record.

Sorry to differ, there koz, but '.aiff' files are at least as robust as '.wav' files, but do have differing parameters in some respects. If editing on a mac .aiff files are the way to go. Both are PCM based formats developed by differing groups, and for differing machines. I'm trying to be platform agnostic, despite being a Mac enthusiast. I think you should do the same.

It seems that you have no experience with mac- specifically music editing? You can learn about .aiff and .wav formats on the Wiki pages http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Inte ... ile_Format, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.wav.

<<<I'm trying to be platform agnostic>>>

Platform agnosticity is the reason Audacity went with WAV. I have to shuffle sound files between all the major and some minor operating systems around the world and WAV gives us the least troubles. iTunes doesn't mind. Yes, I understand AIFF carries more metadata, etc., and if you have that option, then go for it.

I'm not a heavy music or effects editor and never claimed to be. I'm most interested in a solid simple editor and capture program which is one reason I'm not chewing at the 1.3.10 or 1.3.11 version. I'm not "trying out" the versions necessarily. I need to walk into a voice capture session and deliver 48000, 16-bit Stereo WAV files to a Flame artist or an Avid operator. My, or my boss's insistence on perfect, stable, repeatable results makes me a Worst Case User.

I have that on a baseball cap somewhere.

I was happy with 1.2.5 until the Intel machines shot it in the head. My current working version is 1.3.7. Other 1.3 versions have given me Elevator Tummy when something doesn't work right and there's a crew of 15 wondering what the frog I'm doing.

I'm really worried about wholesale shipping people off to 1.3.10 when we know it has those export problems, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of options. Have you beaten up 1.3.11?

Me too, which is why I still have 1.3.9 (on XP) for my real use for now - 1.3.10 is strictly for testing for me.

I'm using 1.3.11 Dec 5 build. There are so many fixes over 1.3.9, and the export problem is fixed in that build.
