I am downloading 1.2.5 for Mac OS X. As the site suggests, I created a file in Applications and when 1.2.5 download it goes to my download file. An icon appears for a second below the Macintosh HD icon and then disappears. I can find it nowhere adn I have no .dmg file to drag to my Applications folder. I will say that I do get an Audacity icon and have recorded a couple seconds on the software but when I close the box I can not find Audacity...Hope that makes sense and yes, I am tech challenged.

First layer of this...you don't drag the Disk Image (.dmg) file to Applications. You double click it and it will mount a "fake" hard drive on your desktop. You open that and follow the instructions -- usually drag the Audacity program into your applications folder.
But don't do that... Yet.
