Error msg trying to export as mp3 using Lamelib on v. 10.2.6

"Could not open mp3 encoding library" is what audacity says when i go through all the mp3 export steps and select the right location of the lame package i downloaded on my computer. I get as far as "libmp3lame.dylib" (which is greyed out on my file open window). When I click "locate all files" instead of just "Lamlib", it is no longer grey, but when i click on it the above error message comes up.
Please can you help?? Am i using a wrong version or something along those lines? My mac version is 10.4.11.

Thanks.

I think you may have the wrong LameLib.
Go to this page: http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/
You will see:
For Audacity 1.2.6 on Mac OS X (PPC):
LameLib-Carbon.sit <<--- this is the one you want.

The .sit file should unzip when you double-click it, or you may need Stuffit Expander. When you unstuff it you will get a file named "LameLib". Drag that file to your Applications folder. Now launch Audacity, go to Preferences > File Formats click on the Find Library button, etc.
