LameLib

I'm having trouble exporting MP3s. I downloaded libmp3lame-osx-universal-3.97 but Audacity doesn't recognise it when it asks me where the LameLib file is. Does the file need to be modified for use on my computer? How do I do that or where can I get the modified file? I'm not much of a tech-head so any advice would be appreciated. :)

<<<Audacity doesn't recognise it when it asks me where the LameLib file is.>>>

I just got back into the office for real. I'm looking up the file we used because it worked just fine.

Do you have your Mac set to see file extensions? Finder, Preferences?

What exactly did the error say if anything.

If we assume you're on a Mac G5 or G4, this is what works for me.

Mac OS 10.4.10
Audacity 1.2.4
LameLib for the PowerPC
244K (243,429 Bytes)
Created January 7, 2002

I can't tell what the LameLib version number is from the file.

If the Universal version doesn't work, try downloading the PowerPC version.

Here it is. Yes, I used the Carbon version, not the Universal.

I buried it in the installers folder.

Hey thanks for the help. I tried the carbon version and I got these error messages:
Unable to read the dictionary of the application or extension because it is not scriptable.
The document "LameLib-Carbon-3.91.sit" could not be opened. Script editor cannot open files in the "Script Editor Document" format.

<<<Audacity doesn't recognise it when it asks me where the LameLib file is.>>>

<<<What exactly did the error say if anything.>>>

When I was trying to use the universal version, there was no error message, but the file just wasn't highlighted so I couldn't open it. The only thing I could see that was different was that it was a "unix executable file".

You're not trying to download the uncompiled source code, are you? Everything up there is in two forms, the programming code in case you want to change the driver structure around a little, and the final compiled software module--the one Audacity is looking for.

It sounds an awful lot like you're handling the wrong one.

I would not expect any difference between 1.2.4 and 1.2.6, Maybe a few tweeks here and there, nothing that would prevent you from using plugins.

I'm pretty sure that's not what is happening. I click on the link to the LameLib download page which then takes me to http://spaghetticode.org/lame/ where the 3 different versions (windows, mac universal, mac carbon) of LameLib are listed for dowload.
