Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Help - it won't let me edit!

Post by Becsroberts » Fri Oct 09, 2009 10:16 am

Hi there,
I'm fairly new to Audacity, so still experiencing some hurdles! ;) Latest problem is that I recorded a mix (mixed using Serrato), and I want to edit it (basically to delete a few seconds here and there). I selected the bits that I wanted to delete, but I can't do anything with them. When I go into the Edit section of the toolbar, all the functions (delete, cut, copy, paste etc) are all disabled and in light grey.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Knowing me, probably a very basic school-girl error!
Version of Audacity I'm using is 1.2.6 and its on a Mac.

Thanks!

You probably have "Paused" the recording/playback rather than "Stop"ping it. Whilst you can Select in Pause mode none of the effects will be activated.

BTW I removed your duplicate post (please don't double-post in future, it only annoys the folk who give up their personal free time to answer forum queries - and it doesn't get you answered any quicker). and I moved this post to the appropriate forum section you had posted in 1.3/MAC - which is for users of the Beta software.

Thanks WC - I will check that and give it a try.

Sorry about the double post - first time I've used this site and didn't know which section I should post in - that's the only reason for double posting - I won't do it again. Promise! :)

We come and beat you up if you double post. It's not pretty. Really.
