Constant noise recording on right channel only

Hiya - After staying up til bonkers-o'clock last night trying to solve this, I wonder if you could help;

I'm recording from a Numark ttb through usb into my Mac OSx. I'm getting fine sound on one channel but only a foul buzzing sound coming into the other. This buzzing sometimes varies in volume by itself or sometimes if I play slightly with the usb going into the computer. Is it the fault of the the ttb (which I can hear humming) or the cable itself? Or me?!

My only solution so far has been to split the stereo track and delete the entire right channel! There has to be a better way...

[The extension tiff has been deactivated and can no longer be displayed.]

Very good money is on the turntable being defective. It's never worked right, is that correct?

The USB cable, computer, sound services, and Audacity are a complete slave to the bitstream coming from the turntable. There's no such thing as only a portion of the show being wrong like you can get if you use the older analog cables or connections.

Can you borrow another computer just to try? I bet it doesn't work there, either.

Take it back. Chances are the failure will not be a shock to the store. We get a lot of USB turntable failures.
