LOLOLOL I know that this sounds like such an elementary question, but for the life of me I can't find it!!! HELP PLS.

I was reading Peggy Kane's evp reverse speaking forum for reverse speech and in her instruction manuel she suggested to download Audacity.....yet it does not seem to do the things that it does for PC users.

PC users are able to use the Audacity program to link onto youtube videos, and once you open the youtube page, Audacity should be there for you to record.......that function is also not there. hmmmm

It seems that once Audacity is downloaded into a mac, things get moved around or are missing, or have different names or such.

Forgive me, but as you can see, I am sooo not tekkie oriented, but trying to learn.

So pls tell me if I can play a recorded message backwards (reverse) and if yes.....HOW?

Hmmm. More and more PCs are missing the ability to do that if you're following the forum, and Macs have never been able to. The ability to do that also makes your computer sound system unstable, so Apple elected to leave it out. But there are ways to get it back.

I used to recommend WireTap, but I don't any more. The program started out life a nice simple utility that would capture anything the Mac was singing and make it into a sound file. Not any more. It's much more convoluted, complicated, time consuming, and awkward now. I will probably not buy another license.

SoundFlower is a free download from the Apple web site. All it does is open up the sound pathways to allow other software to work. It's up to you to provide the other software (Audacity) and know how to use it and not create damage. I didn't like it because the instructions were very thin and some of them didn't make sense.

Macs do have terrific analog sound services, so it's pretty simple to jack the Line-Out to the Line-In with a cable similar to this...

...and record your brains out. You can't hear what you're doing, but you can cure that with a headphone "Y" cable similar to ...

So there's three possibilities.
