exporting to LAME

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

exporting to LAME

Post by hschnell » Tue Sep 15, 2009 2:43 pm

I downloaded and installed LAME but when I go to export my file as an MP3 and choose lame it says that it wasn't what it was expecting and cannot open the MP3 library. I redownloaded a couple times but still have the same problem. Help! thanks

On a Mac, this can be the wrong Audacity.

If you're on a new Mac; Intel, Leopard (10.5) or above, you should be on Audacity 1.3. I like 1.3.7. The new machines do not support Audacity 1.2.

Audacity 1.3.7 -- Mac
http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/au ... -1.3.7.zip

If you have an Intel machine and 10.4 or below, then you should be running Audacity 1.2.5, not 1.2.6.

What combination do you have? Apple > About This Mac.

<<<i have an older macbook (2006, OS X 10.4) and i have the audacity 1.2 version.>>>

Need more detail. Apple > About This Mac and read us what it says after Processor. Audacity one-point-two-point what? That last number makes a big difference.

Tiger on an Intel machine. Cool. I have one of those. Yes, 1.2.5 is appropriate, but I need to go home to figure out which lame I used. The lame software comes down compressed. Did you decompress it before you installed it?

It's not entirely rocket surgery. You probably pulled down a lame Disk Image file (.dmg). When you clicked on it, you either got an Installer Package (.pkg) or it directly gave you the working file.

libmp3lame.dylib - 708 KB on disk - Monday, March 26, 2007 12:12 AM

If you can find that file (Desktop > File > Find...), you can Control-Click on it and Get Info.

Let's stop so you can catch up.
