Play audio without recording

Hey everyone,

I just recently got one of those USB Turntables to play my old records, and it came packaged with Audacity. Great program, I love all the things you can do with it. I've been trying to look for a way where I can just play the music through audacity without recording it. I have no desire to transfer my music to my computer, I would just like to play the music as it goes through, without the hassle of having to record it every time. I ask here because Audacity is the program that came with it, and the only thing I know. If Audacity can't do this, does anyone know of a program that does? For clarification, I just want to play my turntable though my computer. Just have the audio go through my speakers without doing anything else, as I have no other way of listening to it.

Thanks!

You can go into Audacity Preferences and select either Hardware Playthrough or Software Playthrough. Either one should work to do what you want. Restart Audacity.

AND you will need to click once in the area of the record level meter to turn monitoring on if you want to listen without recording.
