moved .data files
i see a lot of questions and answers about lost .data files, but i have the problem where i accidentally moved a .data file, but it's still there and audacity can't find it. how do i get it to recognize it? thanks
Re: moved .data files
Make sure that the project file and the data folder have their original names, and are in their original directory and then you should be able to open the project file (the .aup file).

Re: moved .data files
We can't stress that enough. The original folder and file names are burned into the AUP file. Here's a simple AUP file as a graphic.

Note about a third down and about half-way over, there is a line like this...
aliasfile='/Users/koz/Desktop/piano2.wav"
Audacity is going to go looking for my piano solo under that name and at that exact location. If it doesn't find it because of changes or file moving, Audacity will be very disappointed.
