Audacity Forum

I recently purchased a Behringer Usb interface for recording my dj mixes. I think audacity would be the best free program to do it. I am not that tech smart and don't know a lot about the computer lingo. Could someone please help me with the settings in as easy of computer terms as possible. I'm pretty sure it just has to do with my audio midi settings on the mac and my preferences on Audacity. If you don't think that my problem is that than say so, cause you probably know more than me. I do get an error message from audacity saying i should check the audio settings. Thanks a ton.

Find out if your Mac can see the device.
Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input.

Select the Behringer. Watch the Apple sound meter while you play something.

As a first pass, change Audacity preferences around a little.

Audacity > Preferences > Audio I/O > Stereo
Audacity > Preferences > Quality > 44100 16-bit

Restart Audacity.

Click anywhere inside the record (right-hand) meters and see if they wake up and bounce with your music.
