Variable Speeds During Recording
I have several extremely important personal memory cassette tapes of the night before my wedding and my honeymoon. I do not remember them changing speeds during recording, but when I try to import them into audacity they keep changing speed during the recording (voice speeding up sounding like a chipmunk). Is there a way to select a portion of the imported sound file in Audacity and slow down or speed up that portion so that I can even out these inconsistencies? Are there other solutions to evening out the original or the imported sound file? Please help!

Re: Variable Speeds During Recording
That's caused by the battery going flat during the recording. The tape speed gets slower and slower during the performance and when you play the tape at the correct speed, everything seems speeded up.
Audacity 1.3 has speed, pitch, and tempo effects tools, but I know of no way to slowly fade the tools in as the performance progresses. Every time you change the tool manually you may get an interruption in the show.
