how do u install the lame encoder and how do you use it?

For Audacity 1.3 in Windows, see the topic at the top of this page: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=16

The lame encoder allows Audacity to export audio in MP3 format. Once you have installed Lame, you can select MP3 as the export format.

In Audacity 1.3 you simply select "Export" from the file menu, and (after clicking "OK" on the Metadata Editor window) select MP3 as the export format.
