Microphone volume too low

Post by zular » Sun May 03, 2009 5:59 pm

Hello. When I try to record with the microphone, I really need to crank the volume up of my speakers to hear anything. I already increased the volume of my mic (although I can't seem to find the +20 dB option) to the max but the results are the same. I read other threads but it didn't solve the problem.

I'm using Windows XP by the way.

Thanks.

That will kill you right there. We took accidental delivery of a series of sound cards that did not have the +20dB Boost and they were almost useless for our jobs. There is no option short of changing the microphone or adding an external microphone amplifier.

You can amplify later in Audacity, but it's not unusual for the microphone to become noisy when you do that.
