Changing Playback Position
I'd like to be able to choose where I start playback within a track. I see that by using the horizontal scroll bar I can select any position within a track, but when I press "play" the track begins playback at the beginning of the track instead of my selected position. What do I do to begin playback at the position I select?

Re: Changing Playback Position
Click inside the blue waveforms. That will establish a new cursor position and the song will start from there until you change it again.
If you can't hit the point accurately enough, click-drag around the desired point and Control-E zoom in. Try to find the point again. Keep going in until you find your edit point accurately.
You can set a label at that point with Control-B so you can get back there easily next time.
Control-F to zoom back out full.

Thanks.....what I wasn't doing was, after having scrolled with the horizontal bar to a desired point, clicking in the waveform area to place the cursor before pressing "play".
With respect to your suggestion of using the "control", "E" and "F" keys for zooming, what's the difference between that method and using the zoom features under the "view" tab on the toolbar?

Far faster with the keyboard shortcuts. Nobody is going to slowly mouse up to the Play button to start playback and then mouse over to the Stop button after. The SpaceBar does both of those straight from the keyboard.
I edit several hours of radio shows each week and you can't see my hands move when I'm working. I'm on a Mac, so my keys are Apple-E, Apple-F, etc. Same thing.

Re: Changing Playback Position
You also get used to mousing with your right hand and keyboarding with your left -- assuming you're right-handed. That saves a lot of time, but nobody is holding a gun to your head. If you're comfortable using the mouse for everything and there's no deadline, have a good time.

Re: Changing Playback Position
And using the mouse for everyting means you are more likely to give yoursef RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) in your mouse hand - so it's best to vary your hand movements to avoid that.
