Lame mp3 encoder problem

Realising that I don't have the lame mp3 encoder I decided to follow the instructions on this page: http://www.audacityteam.org/manual/inde ... encoder.3F
I did as it required because I downloaded the lame mp3 encoder program and installed it.
Finally, I read select the location of the lame_enc.dll, which I did at C:Program FilesLame for Audacitylame_enc.dll (where I installed it) then pressed OK BUT then a message pops up informing me that it could not open the mp3 encoding library.
So, something is wrong.
To make it work do I need to reset my preference settings file at: Documents and Settings<user name>Application DataAudacityaudacity.cfg ???
