Crash Recovery
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... shRecovery

It should be possible to go back to the WAV Exports of both your original captures and periodic Exports as the editing process goes along. Monday_Backup.wav.

An Audacity Project is never your show. Projects are complicated, brittle and hard to manage. All your Live Capture Masters should be backed up WAV files and you don't get an Finished Edit Master of your show until you Export As WAV.

Maybe not. The recovery tools are a lot better than they used to be. Never go that long without a safety backup of the show as a WAV.

Do you know why the machine crashed? Before you try the recovery tools, you should probably find out if your hard drive has plenty of space free and the space is error checked and defragmented. If you have a choked hard drive, it's just going to crash again. Figure between two and four GB free for each Edit-Hour of show. Also no drive on a production machine should ever be over 90% full. The machine I'm typing on right now has a 80GB drive with 20GB free. I'm about to go in and throw stuff out to make more room.
