Audacity Forum

I have tried every known way to man to try and get the line in box thingy to stop graying out, I have read all the posts here and tried swithching all the recording ticks ect.., on windows xp pro but to no evail. Please somebody save my sanity and tell how to do this some other way than already suggested.

Why dont they make the program with this box part of the program - every body has to use it, why is it so difficult?

You have no idea. Audacity is used on three different computing platforms by millions of people all over the world. It can't include all the oddities of all the machines in every language.

What it does do is use the computer's own sound services to deliver and send sound. Most Windows complaints have to do with running Windows, not Audacity.

So, you need to back up three steps and tell me exactly what you're trying to do. "I'm plugging my cassette machine into the Line in of my.....etc." Yes, you do have to get that detailed. We hate working in a vacuum. It makes our ears pop.
