mp3 export

When I try to export a recording as an mp3, it sounds like chipmunks....way too fast when I play it back. I am running Windows Vista. How can I fix this?
Nobody jumped right on this because I think you may have used the wrong words in the question.
You recorded a live presentation with you singing in front of a microphone. You saved the Project and then Exported As MP3. When you play that music file in a fresh Audacity, it doesn't sound right?
