Can't replay WAV files

My 7 yr old computer came loaded with Music Match, Roxio CD creator and of course, Windows media player.

All of which I have used over the years to rip and burn CD's, but mostly, Music Match.

For the past few months, I've not been able to get my Music Match to open nor have I been able to re-install it.
AND when I exported Audacity WAV files previously, they'd been received nice and neat in My Music folder. And I enjoyed being able to send them anywhere...to create a CD, attach in an e-mail, etc.

Just tonight I recorded a song and exported it as a WAV file. It arrived in My Music folder and when I tried to open it to listen to it and then sent it to myself as an e-mail attachment, I couldn't open it or hear it.

And the other recording programs aren't doing so well either....the CD's they are creating either malfunction in the ripping or the burning process and all or some tracks aren't cleanly recorded.

I'd appreciate any suggestions, as I'd like upload some newer songs to the copyright site, but have no assured way the files will reach the LOC site for me to be credited.

Thank you

Thanks

Audacity likes to default to 44100, 32-bit floating, Mono. This is less than useful and sometimes causes problems with other programs.

Change in Audacity preferences to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo (the music CD audio standard) and see what happens. Try a new short recording.

My friends at the Library Of Congress agree with me that it's a bad idea to include abbreviations in a question. KWIM?
