I have tried to use my USB Turntable for the first time and the stylus (which was new with the turntable) is scratching the record badly.
Any advise on why this may be happening.

This is a forum for Audacity, which is free audio-editing software. Someone here might still be able to help you (especially if you re-post in the "Recording Equipment" section of the forum, under "All Things Audio") but I just wanted to clarify in case you thought this was the support forum for your turntable. Some turntables come bundled with Audacity, which can confuse people about which is which. --Allen

The headshell/cartridge assembly may be badly adjusted. You may have a duff stylus (in the old days hi-fi shops used to have a microscope to examine your stylus). The stylus may have crud/pet-hair on it. Or you may just have some knackered vinyl that was previously damaged.

We get a lot of complaints from people who bought USB turntables. The problem is that the turntables are throw-away devices -- transfer all your vinyl and then throw everything away. Sometimes, you need to throw it away a little too soon.
