Hello everyone,
I've just bought an ACER 6930G laptop and I use audacity to record my Roland TD-6v Electric drums. So I used to put the headphone to headphone jack from the output of my roland (labelled PHONES) and that went into my PC's line in. Then I choose I think it was stereo mix (inside of audacity) and off i go.
But now it doesn't let me change the recording device. It's just greyed out. I can't see Line in/ stereo mix/ aux or anything.
So is it because the laptop has a built in microphone or because I've changed from xp to vista that is causing this problem?
I'm using Audacity 1.2.6 and my soundcard is Realtek HD Audio. I tried going on the realtek site but couldn't access it.
Roland TD6 into Acer laptop - not recording?

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: Roland TD6 into Acer laptop - not recording?
Update: I've fixed it!
The problem was that acer had installed "Empowering technology" software which was stopped windows from being able to access the audio card. I exited the acer application and viola I could see Line in and all is well.
Edit: Also you have to choose Realtek Digital output as your default playback device.
Hope this helps others.
