Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

The bouncing light sound meters will measure sound a lot lower volume than the blue waves on the timeline. So your show isn't loud enough.

What are you using to make the sound? iPod connection? Cassette machine?

Everybody always starts the movie in the middle of the second act. We need it from the cartoon at the beginning. "I decided to transfer my cassette tapes to DVD."

Windows computer systems are a slave to their sound panel. You can change volume there.

Windows Control Panel

You can see what you're doing by launching Audacity (you did mean "Audacity," right?) and click once inside the red record meters. They will wake up and monitor your sound without going into full record.
