Audacity Crashes

Hello,

I have had numerous instances of audacity crashing during recording (no screensaver, no other applications open). THis has happened multiple times on 3 difference PCs. All were Windows XP Pro version 2002, service pack 2. They are all using the latest stable version of Audacity (1.2.6) with the Echo MIA Mide audio card (latest driver update version 7.3).

The recordings are all 22050 16 bit mono. I don't have any real ideas as to what causes these crashes. I don't see any patterns or anything else that would point toward a potential causal relationship.

I was able to get the crash report data this last time (see the two attached .jpg images). Hopefully it will be helpful in some way.

These are the Harry Houdini problems. They can't be happening, but they clearly are.

You have a regular routine of cleaning out your drives of unneeded files and you error check and defragment, right? No drive in your system is over 90% full? Just to get that out of the way.

It's unlikely, but if Audacity fails on multiple machines owned by the same person, then one of the common things is...the person.

The other common thing is your wacky format. What happens if you try to capture in a more normal project of 44100, 16-bit, Stereo? One of three things is going to happen. Nothing, it crashes just like it used to, it gets a lot better, or it fails constantly.

Each condition tells us something about your machine.

Although 1.2.6 was the last version to have the word "stable" in it's name, it is rather old now and is due to be replaced in the near future by "1.4 (stable)" which will be based on version 1.3. Many users now find that the current 1.3 version is more stable than 1.2.6.

Have you added any plug-in effects to Audacity?
