Left Audacity Recording Overnight, Now I Can't Save!

Hey guys, I set up Audacity to record while me and my buddy hosted a radio show, and since I didn't come home last night, it recorded 13 hours of audio! Now everything is greyed out, I can't save or export or even cut the other ten hours that I don't need. I don't want to lose it! This is really important to me! Maybe it has to with the visual memory it's taking to record thirteen hours of audio data? I'm surprised it didn't just crash. I tried running a second instance of Audacity, to just rerecord the part I want, won't let me do anything in the second instance. Any advice on what I should do?

try to be a little patient, there are not that many helper elves on this forum - and they span several time-zones around the world, not all awake at the same time
First question- have you run out of disk space on your hard drive? It sounds as though you may have done - have a look with windows explorer. If so then the show may not be recoverable - and you may need to clean up the temp files.

You have filled - up your hard drive. Delete the rubbish.

Nope, got half my hard drive left. That's what I thought at first. I also though that I may have run out of visual memory, but nothing is stressing in the least. Maybe I could convert these temporary audio files into a playable format?
It won't even let me press save. It's not like I try and save and it tells me no, the option to save is grayed out. Along with cut, copy, paste, trim, everything is grayed out except for things concerning selection.

There is a process to recover your shards and fragments into a semi-show.
Crash Recovery
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... shRecovery
If you have no response from some of the tools, Audacity has crashed and you're looking at the walking dead.
Audacity can do that when it runs out of
clean, fast drive space. Audacity runs in real time and it's a pretty simple program. If there's anything in the service anywhere that slows it down, you're cooked.
<<<Nope, got half my hard drive left. >>>
We like numbers a lot. If "half your hard drive" turns out to be 750GB that could be another reason. Big isn't always better. Fast is always good. I manage machines with drives of that size and doing any major file management is cause to wait or go to lunch. We do have 1.5TB drives, but they're really multiple drives in a cabinet stacked and striped for speed.
After you do manage to piece the whole thing back together, remember that there is a 4GB file size limit in WAV.

You may be able to salvage this project - BUT be warned that crash recovery is not as good in 1.2 than it is in 1.3.
You will need to force udacity to close - try using the Windows Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DELETE).
Then see this tutorial in the Wiki:

Good luck, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Let us know how you get on .....
