Wiritng an equation for a recorded sinusoidal noise
How would I go about writing an equation for the graph of a sinusoid that is displayed in audacity?

This sounds like the description of the first half of a job. What's the rest?

Well basically the job is to create an instrument for my math class, play 3 notes with it, record on computer, analyze in audacity, and construct an equation for each sinusoid. Doesn't seem like it would be too difficult as I know how to construct equations fairly well but I'm not sure as to the period/amplitude units in audacity.

Amplitude is on a scale -1.0 to +1.0 (see vertical scale on left side of the track)
In the selection tool bar at the bottom, you can set it to show the length of a selection in a variety of units, for example, "samples" or milliseconds. (Samples will be more accurate, and you can derive the time in seconds from the sample rate).
