Why empty gaps.

Post by Balu12b » Tue Mar 24, 2009 12:53 am

Yesterday I recorded five five-minute segments and saved the projects. Did Noise Removal and Normalize. Came back today and in four of the segments, there is about ten seconds missing in the first minute of so. Just silence. A straight line. I now have to rerecord the segments. Very upsetting. Recorded in Beta 1.3.7. Ideas? Ways to prevent in the future? USB powered mic. HP PC.

Try to avoid moving, renaming, deleting or otherwise changing any file or folder that may possibly be connected in any way with the project that you are working on. (the symptom that you describe suggest that some of the data required in the project has been moved, deleted, or otherwise made unavailable to Audacity).

Also, try to avoid posting question about Audacity 1.3 in the Audacity 1.2 part of the forum.

This could be more fun than normal because of this...

<<<A straight line.>>>

Removing parts of a project by accident doesn't give you a straight line. The blue line keeps wiggling even though the show is silent.

Is that what you meant to say?

Only until Audacity realises that the data is missing. When Audacity gets round to refreshing the waveform image, the waveform for any missing data is replaced with a straight line. Kind of "now you see it, now you don't".
