I'm working on trying to make a recording of a normal human voice sound like this word-less voice from a video game: http://www.mediafire.com/file/me2yijkmzqn/disciple.mp3
I have the pitch right, but I can't get that sort of hoarse, scratchy quality to it. Any suggestions on effects that might approximate it? Thanks in advance!

I don't know of a filter package which will do that. This is the same sort of question as when people posting wanting to change between a man and a woman's voice. You can always get about 60% there with the conventional tools but it always sounds like the wrong voice that you applied a lot of filters to.
For example, you can't just lower the pitch because all the breathy, sharp air sounds get muddy. Not easy to do.

That mostly comes from the person - you may need assistance from a 40-a-day smoker, or just practice gargling.TheShekinah wrote:I have the pitch right, but I can't get that sort of hoarse, scratchy quality to it.

Heh, okay, thanks for taking the time to reply though! And I'll keep my eyes out for a smoker
