Problem with the wave form...

The waveform is showing as just one straight line, then occasionally up and down in a rectangle rather than continuous up and down 'spikes'... any ideas?

Yes. We need a little more of a push. Describe the show. Remember we can't see what you're doing. Is this something you downloaded from the internet?
