Mixer Input Toolbar Selector Disabled
I am using Audacity 1.2.6 on Windows, and I accidentally disabled the Mixer Input Toolbar Selector. I could not get the input volume to change, and when I moved it, it completely turned off the sound. I had selected Monitor Input, but when I tried to move the input and output, it caused the sound to go off. How do I enable the Mixer Input Toolbar Selector and why doesn't my input and output work properly? HELP!!

Re: Mixer Input Toolbar Selector Disabled
If you are on Vista, you have not disabled the input selector at all. On Vista you use the Audio I/O Preferences in Audacity to select input devices:

Exit Audacity and use the Windows Control Panel to select and enable the input you want, and to set the recording levels:

If changing the input or output levels in Audacity cause you to lose the ability to record, it probably means the drivers of your sound device are not functioning properly. Update the drivers of the sound device you are recording with, so they are the latest ones specific to your particular computer model and version of Windows, as supplied by the device or motherboard manufacturer:
