Good afternoon all,

I have a class that has a bunch of students trying to bundle together a group of tracks as one. We have some students who recorded themselves talking and the next day we get another group of students record their part. When we try to make the various tracks into one track we cannot save it and we get an error message stating the project could not be saved. If anyone knows what we are doing wrong we would greatly appreciate all your help with this matter.

Record a track, then "Export" the recording as a WAV file.
Repeat for the other tracks.
(Note that Audacity does not "Save" audio files, it "Saves" Audacity projects. To get an audio file out of Audacity you must "Export").

Open a new Audacity project and "Import" the WAV files - Make sure that you have sufficient free disk space to do so.

Edit and arrange the imported tracks as required, then Export from Audacity to mix down the multiple tracks into a single audio file.
