First of all, let me preface this by saying that my knowledge is very limited on the entire subject.
I'm playing guitar through my computer, Windows Vista. Plugged into my mic jack, using ASIO, and playing Waves GTR solo through their one year trial. Waves works fine, but I want to record my work. Whenever I try to record in Audacity, I get a message telling me to check my input device. Why can't I record? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Need help recording with Waves GTR
Ok, thanks a lot for the response man.
Again, my knowledge is very limited. From what I understand, I need to make a developer account at that website, then download ASIO SDK. I have no idea how to compile it though. It sounds complicated. Is there any other free recording program that can give me the capability to simply record Waves GTR with ASIO?
Thanks again

Re: Need help recording with Waves GTR
Try "Wavosaur" or "Reaper".

Re: Need help recording with Waves GTR
I have Reaper. I don't know what to set as the input. I can hear my GTR, but it's not registering, and nothing gets recorded in Reaper. To my knowledge, my GTR is a standalone program, not a VST, as I'm not using anything to host it - so I can't add it as an effect in Reaper. Am I wrong about that? How would I record using Reaper?
Re: Need help recording with Waves GTR
I came across a post on another forum in which someone claims to have recorded Waves Guitar solo with Audacity. If that is true, then you should be able to record it by setting up Audacity to record from "stereo mix" (assuming that your sound card supports recording from stereo mix. See here for more information about using "stereo mix": http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... e_computer
