Audacity Causing Computer to Freeze

I just started using Audacity 2 days ago to edit some songs that were transferred from cassette. After a while Audacity started freezing and skipping during playback, then the entire program started freezing. After I save the project I notice my internet is freezing and my WMP and Music Match won't even open.
So do yall think this has to do with Audacity? And how do I prevent this from happening?

I think this has to do with you filling your hard drive. My Computer > Right Click C: > Properties. You should have at least 15% of the drive unused and the available space should be error free and defragmented.
The first time people get into audio (or video) editing, they're shocked, shocked about how much drive space gets used and how fast. This problem quickly kills people on older machines.

Yea I actually have 77% free space on my hard drive. But I defragmented my computer for the first time ever so it SEEMS to be running better so far ... but I haven't had a chance to use Audacity again so I guess we'll see how it goes when I do.
So I will give an update later on. Preciate the help.
