Backtrack doesn't play when I press ''Record''

I am trying to record a vocal track along with an existing instrumental. When I press play the instrumental plays fine but when I press Record, instead of the instrumental playing along there is no sound whatsoever... It used to work but this problem just started occuring.. I am using the non-beta version. Thanks!!

You may already have tried this, but under the "Audio I/O" tab in the Preferences, there is a checkbox for "Play other tracks while recording new one". Make sure it's checked. If it's already checked, I won't know how to help you, but I'm sure someone else here will. --Allen

The settings for that are all crammed into..

Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O > Stuff On The Bottom.
